Arpita Roy, Jhanak's Artistic Director
Arpita is a member of Indian Dance Educator's Association (IDEA). She also teaches Kathak in Indian International school, Fairax, VA.
Achievements:
- Gold medal winner in KATHAK dance competition in Bani Chakra Dance School, Calcutta
- First (Gold Medalist) in Tailakka board (all over India)
- 3rd in Doverlane music competition in Calcutta

Arpita Roy, is a renowned "Lucknow Gharana" Kathak dancer, choreographer and teacher with more than 22 years of experience and specialization on Kathak. Arpita learnt Kathak from Guru Parimal Krishna, disciple of Pandit Ram Narayan Mishra. Later she enriched herself from famous Guru Bandana Sen, disciple of Pandit Shambhu Maharaj; Pandit Vijay Shankar; famous Kathak dancer, Sandip Mallick, disciple of Pandit Birju Maharaj.
Arpita has Nritya Prabhakar and Nritya Visarad in Kathak from prestigious Allahabad Board and Tailakka Board of India.

After coming to US 14 years back, she did not stop learning different styles of dances. She has learnt Jazz, Hip-hop, Ramba/Salsa and different modern/bollywood styles. She had also taken regular lessons on Folk dances of West Bengal. She still practices these dances on a regular basis. Arpita is still an active performer and choreographer for many shows and events in Washington DC Metro Area, USA.
